Have You Updated Your Resume?

An important habit that you must pick up if you’ve not already done so

Do you update your resume regularly? If so, how often do you do it?

There’s nothing really special about this tip, it’s more of a discipline. However, most of the candidates that I work with don’t do it. It’s not that they don’t know about this, but it’s just that they just don’t make it a point to do it.

How Hard Is It?

I’m not going to start with how important it is to update your resume. We all know how important our resume is to us. I want to talk about how hard is it to update it.

Annual Performance Review

Let’s start with our annual/year-end performance review. It takes time to sit down and look through what you’ve done for the year. What’s good and what’s not? It’s one of those things that we just feel we have the answers but it’s just “too hard” to write it down.

I learned this from one of my managers. She would not have the year-end conversation with anyone who hasn’t prepared for it. I think it’s the right thing to do.
